The Hero’s Journey…
Joseph Campbell taught us much when he explored and wrote about the Hero’s Journey:

For many people they “refuse the call to greatness”. They know that they have something more to offer and can be more, do more, give more and live more but they either don’t see the path or they refuse to venture into the unknown out of fear.
I’ve been there.
I see my friends there.
I see family there.
I find myself back there occasionally, playing small.
It is my old blueprint. It is an associative memory that forms my identity. And it isn’t really who I am…
It takes constant reinforcement for me to become the best version of myself, to become my future self. But it is coming…I can see myself stepping up and around me, I can see others doing so as well.
I probably need to start over from the beginning.
I will confess I hit my first major roadblock this week.
I don’t think I made it longer than an hour or so without needing to reset the 7 Day Mental Diet and I haven’t perfectly executed my daily activities yet this week.
But I’m back in it.
The one thing that never ceased was commitment to my DMP.
It is almost in my blood.
I feel wrong NOT reciting it.
I know I have to succeed.
I know it is my purpose.
Last week we began a 12 week virtue make-over using an adapted version of Benjamin Franklin’s personal process. The task is to focus diligently on a characteristic or virtue that we wish to see grow and develop within ourselves.
We were to rank the characteristics in order of our greatest to least needed areas for development.
While this tends to ebb and flow for me, at this particular time I wanted to continue to see the virtue of discipline enhanced in my life. All of last week, I found examples of disciplined behavior in myself and in others. I observed and I took note.
This week, everyone in the Master Key Alliance is focusing on kindness.
Not only kindnesses we are noticing from others, but our intention is to go out and randomly execute one or two acts of kindness (for which we may never have noticed or receive thanks).
Why are we doing this?
Because What we focus on we find. It is the Law of Growth.
The Law of Growth states “ the Universal Law which is one of the simplest to comprehend. It simply exists to ensure that something always grows, that creation is constant and determined by the kind and quality of seed which is planted. I’m excited to see what a group of 350 ish students of the Laws of the Universe and the Master Key System can create, together, in terms of a ripple effect of positivity.
We all want to develop a bit more kindness.

It was no coincident that we hit Og Scroll 4 as NYE came around and as our focus shifted to letting our unique talents and greatness flow through us and into the world.
Just as this flashed up in my memories and I was getting set to share a similar message for 2018.
Just another indicator that I am on the correct path…

In Scroll 3 of Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World he writes about persistence.
The dictionary defines per·sist·ence
firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
“companies must have patience and persistence, but the rewards are there”
the continued or prolonged existence of something.
“the persistence of huge environmental problems”
In week 14, our task was to watch one of several movies that provided an example of persistence, speaking your goals into existence, discipline, tenacity and all of the characteristics one needs to accomplish one’s definite major purpose in life.
I chose the Disney movie Cool Runnings. I love how even in the midst of a crushing defeat the protagonist never gave up on his goal of making it to the Olympics. He knew he couldn’t compete in the sprints, so he found another path. He didn’t have the teammates to start, or the necessary equipment, or even the climate to practice his sport but he persisted. He never gave him. He did whatever it took to get to the Olympics.
The Jamaican bobsled team, in the movie Cool Runnings, was laughed at, told they couldn’t do it, made fun of and very few believed they had what it took. But they persisted until they succeeded.
They exemplified Scroll 3 of Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World.
14 weeks in and I’m wondering, what am I going to do with myself when this is over?
Will there be an option to repeat the course?
I already know I’m going to accomplish my DMP and all it will involve, but I have so appreciated the guidance of my guide
Justin and I think I’d want him to help with the next round of revisions.

How do I become a guide?
I feel all wrong if I miss any part of the daily drill now and I can’t imagine ever going back to the other way I was living.
I’m becoming a positive peptide junkie and I’m definitely drinking the kool-aid.
But they way I see it is that kool-aid is supposed to be drunk anyway 🙂

This week we are working on lists of our accomplishments: big, small, life changing and otherwise.
We are listing what we have done to help ourselves feel great about all that we have already done.
It has been fun reflecting on past successes, times I went above and beyond and times I showed up for those I love.
We are also now keeping track of three things for which we are grateful.
I’m now consistently starting and ending my day feeling great.
